Eny arrived in the Uk from Iran back in 1970. For 38 years he worked at Heathrow Airport, but he had always wanted to work in construction. He took evening classes in plumbing and engineering, before deciding to specialise in electrical installation.

Hendri came to JBT seeking a construction apprenticeship shortly after completing his Level 3 in Electrical Installation. Following a successful interview, JBT provided him with a full set of hand tools and full PPE.

Johirul was introduced to JBT through Southwark Works. He had secured a Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation, which he had self-funded by installing safety equipment into residential homes for the NHS.

Max was 27 years old when first referred to JBT in June 2023. He was referred by his tutor at West London College, where he was working towards his Diploma Level 2 in Carpentry.

Kyle Murray-Aaron is an Ealing resident who had studied Electrical Installation at Ealing Hammersmith and West London College. Unable to find a construction work placement Kyle worked for M&S, stacking shelves.

Matthew was introduced to JBT by James Burke, an advisor for the Xcite Employment Project run by Harrow Council.

Steve went to see Southern Housing Group to ask if there were any job opportunities. As a resident of Samuel Lewis Trust, Lisgar Terrace Estate, Steve Coba was an ideal candidate to join the apprentices on the Lisgar Terrace Phase 1 regeneration project.

We were very interested in Supanja and her story so we decided to interview her and we are so glad that we did. We were instantly impressed by her enthusiasm and dedication. Living in London, she catches the 7.15pm train every Wednesday night to Port Talbot getting in around 11.30pm so that she can go to college on the Thursday.

Titch is a Borough of Brent resident and at the time of her induction with JBT had achieved her Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating at Barnet and Southgate College.

Nathan is an Acton resident and had completed his Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies when JBT first met him. Even before then, Nathan always wanted to do more hands-on work, whether in the boxing ring or doing freelance electrical work with his dad.

By partnering with JBT, Higgins Construction streamlined its apprenticeship placements at St Bernard’s Gate, meeting local authority requirements while investing in the next generation of skilled workers.
