Eny arrived in the Uk from Iran back in 1970. For 38 years he worked at Heathrow Airport, but he had always wanted to work in construction. He took evening classes in plumbing and engineering, before deciding to specialise in electrical installation.
Eny approached JBT via Brent Works looking for an apprenticeship. Brent Works serve as an arm of Brent Council and have been an invaluable source of potential apprentices for JBT. The council was able to fund apprenticeship training through their Apprenticeship Levy, which JBT is most appreciative of.
Eny was eventually placed on the Chippenham Gardens site being developed by Higgins in July 2021 for 45 weeks.
During his apprenticeship, Eny never missed a day or been late. At 70 years old, he was a mature apprentice who proved himself to be an exemplary example to his peers. He was frequently commended for the quality of his work. On every site he worked on, Eny was noted for the respect and courtesy he showed his colleagues.
Eny’s thoughts:
I absolutely love my apprenticeship. I’m over the moon and thoroughly enjoying it. I have always loved construction and always wanted to be an electrician. There has been nothing negative about my experience and I feel 100% supported by my peers. My plan is to be a qualified electrician, gain my Gold CSCS card keep working within the construction industry.
