Max was 27 years old when first referred to JBT in June 2023. He was referred by his tutor at West London College, where he was working towards his Diploma Level 2 in Carpentry. Max was looking to make a career change into the construction industry and was combining his study with part time work in the hospitality sector. As a single parent to a young boy, Max was hoping to find work in a sector where the hours are more sociable.
Following his interview with JBTY, Max was placed on a site in Hammersmith & Fulham with West London College. Normally an apprentice like Max would not be eligible as he is an Ealing resident, but he was given special dispensation by the borough as he lived on the border between Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham and his son attended school in Hammersmith.
Max worked on this site for six months where he was successful. As a result, JBT were able to move him to a Higgins site in Ealing called Boston Road. Max was able to further develop his skills there and grow his confidence. Once this site was complete, he was moved to a Bugler Developments site by Ealing Council.
Under the watchful eye of Site Manager, Karim Najm, who was also a carpenter by trade, Max continued to flourish and was well on his way to successfully completing his apprenticeship.
